“Leadership is lifting a person’s vision to high sights, the raising of a person’s
performance to a higher standard, the building of a personality beyond its normal limitations.”
(Peter Drucker)
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, concerned citizens can change world.
Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.” (Margaret Mead)
These quotes summarise our dream to see young people who come from circumstances of hopelessness and despair, with little direction and dreams that have been lost along the way, rise up and become leaders of the next generation. We work with these young people to inspire them to regain lost dreams, to motivate them to rise up within themselves and to become world-changers in their own right. This means that we are not just focused on academic results or on the outward appearance of success, but work to enrich and develop these young people so that they become future leaders filled with passion, purpose, deep character and true significance.
Over the past four years, we have had between four and eight students living at Home-Base in Johannesburg. They all came are orphaned or vulnerable youth. We currently have four full-time students in our residential programme. They are respectively studying degrees in IT, Civil Engineering, Business Administration and Gaming/IT.
As part of this programme, we care for the whole person, from mentoring, to financial support, to food and transport, and more. They live in a family environment and are supported, cared for and challenged to grow.
In brief, the residential programme includes:
